Dear Mr. Buckley:

To the Editor
National Review

Dear Mr. Buckley:

You write passionately about the moral question involved in abortion. But, dear sir, you totally neglect the other moral question for not only the pregnant woman but for society:

What of the fate of babies born unwanted and being neglected or abused?
  • Psychiatrists and psychologists roles are heavily weighted by adults who were unwanted as children.
  • Our prisons are full to overflowing of abused men and women.
  • Our streets are rapidly being overrun by the homeless, many of whom were neglected or abused
    children.
I’m so glad abortion was legal when I had an unwanted pregnancy at 41 (after 5 children before age 25 at the behest of my then-husband). I did not give birth to an unwanted child and for that you should be grateful.

Finally, you can bet your sweet bippy, as we used to say, that if it were you men who got pregnant and had the responsibility of the baby, abortion would be totally legal – to hell with moral questions!

Positively, Carolan
