What a joyous time last night, in the sun and breeze of the organ pavilion in Balboa Park. Enjoying, reacting, moving to a musical foursome called Stars on the Water, consisting of an incisive right-on drummer and swinging bass, rhythm and lead guitars plus sweeeeet three-part vocal harmonies.

They covered Jamaica to Margaritaville and all the way between. Their bag of tricks included quick-change rhythms and trading off solos. Ever surprising with clever arrangements and zinger lyrics, even showing off a reggaefied Johnny Be Good.

The music here is unfortunately not these guys (can't find anything downloadable on the web) but this has somewhat the same raucous rambunctious feel. I hear the "Stars" will be at Campland by the Bay later this month. Count me in!
