Hillary and Iowa Caucus 2008

Today, Thursday, January 3rd, is the day of the 2008 version of the historic Iowa Caucuses, considered by some to be a critical bellwether of the Presidential nomination. Today this small farming state of 3 million becomes the first in the nation to formally express opinions on who should be POTUS. Today in Iowa the temperature is likely to range from 17 to 25 F, with some 18 mph winds and 62% humidity. In other words, today is a day much better spent sitting round a fireplace sipping a hot toddy.

Maybe that it the cause of the following figures for the Iowa Democratic Caucus ...

In 2004 just 124,000 Democrats caucused.
In 2004 41% of Democrats who caucused decided in the last 3 days.

To counter the miserable weather and pathetically small turnout, during the past week the Hillary campaign has done the unusual: handed out shovels and sand (to counter ice); volunteered babysitters to those in need; offered rides to caucus locations and otherwise behaved like helpful friends.

Not to belabor the point, but isn't this what our public servants should do -- help those in need?

Positively,
Carolan

But then what sort of music would?
