Last night on C-SPAN George W. Bush revealed once and for all his true calling. Oh, sure, we who watched the White House Correspondents Awards Dinner in Washington saw once again the man's stand-up comedic ability, for which excellent writers are of course the underpinning. But no question that his comic timing is good.

But then Dubya took the baton and directed the US Marine Corps Band, a 210-year-old institution, in a rousing patriotic march. But the absolute revelation was how professionally he performed.

And that means that he studied, practiced, rehearsed over a period of time so that he came across with a strong beginning, a solid middle and a great ending.
