Some of my Black friends -- you know who you are -- have seemed mystified at the waves of emotion and angry outbursts that have recently peppered our interaction. They knew these were connected with the Hillary-Barack campaign but did not understand why it was affecting me like that.

Well, I think I've finally found the way to explain it from the perspective of men of color in the U.S.

Imagine that you have spent a happy productive 20 years getting older but wiser and never in any way encountering snide remarks or outward displays of antagonism. Yes, of course it's a stretch ...

But now imagine that while you're feeling like all is wonderful, from out of the blue you witness half the world descending on one of your own with all that and much more.

So now you must face facts:
Your belief is false.
Nothing has changed.
And you are goddam mad about it!

Well, there I am. Hillary has proven that sexism and misogyny are horribly alive! And they're bought into by so many people -- male & female -- that it makes me scream in agony!

Bottom line, it must be absolutely thrilling to have one of your own chosen to be the Democratic nominee for President. And I believed I would be experiencing exactly that ...
