"I'm leaving with the same set of values"

So says the individual who has tried so mightily for the past eight painful years of our lives to destroy so many of the principles that are the very foundation of our country.

Makes yoiu wonder -- just exactly what are George W. Bush's values?

If you ask me, or Oliver Stone or indeed any psychologist, W has absolutely no concept of the devastation he is leaving in his wake. And that may well be not due to ignorance but because he is blinded by his neediness:
  • First and foremost, need for his father's approval -- never there and never will be there -- but that's too tough to face.
  • Thus, the resultant need to self-medicate -- early on with derring-do, alcohol and who-knows-what.
  • But then the abrupt turn to religion, "born-again" leading to the delusion of god-anointment that has wreaked such havoc on our country and the world.
And so we come to the point:
180 degrees from sick is still sick.
I actually wrote that. And explained the point in my novel Sweet Compulsions: "In order for change to last it has to occur in increments that can be assimilated by degrees into a person's basic core. Trying to displace lifelong attitudes and behaviors with perfect opposites never works. Part of the hell of coming back from addiction."

The conclusion: Early on W needed a long-term 12 step program plus dead-serious psychotherapy, together with cognitive and behavioral therapy. Not to mention that his parents, wife and many others should have put an end to their co-dependent places in his life.

Positively,
Carolan
