At Last -- and Anderson Cooper Said It

There's a great article in yesterday's LA Times with Anderson Cooper -- who I happen to think is the brightest beacon to appear on the national news horizon in many a year.

Best part was when he was asked if he would alter his news presentation style because of the recent rise of "opinionaters," he replied that Rachel Maddow and Campbell Brown were good at what they do. But, he said, "It seems like there's an awful lot of yelling, and this year yelling's been replaced by sarcasm and snarkiness."

In my book, he's right on the mark! And nobody else seems to have said so. It has appeared to me as if these two new females on the scene are convinced the way to ratings and/or superstardom is to outdo the very worst we had to stomach from all those male pundits during the presidential campaign and that threatens to keep on to eternity.

After the emails I blasted them with during the campaign, these days I simply switch off anyone -- on television or internet or even in person -- from whom any violent, vicious or just plain snide remarks emanate. And I firmly believe that if more of us would take this action, the incidences would decrease dramatically.

Yes, reason and logic and ethics and just plain "niceness" can and must make a comeback!
