The Best, the Most, the Indelible
What a day and night and morning after! No, I was not in DC -- instead glued to my computer screen all day at work. And my tv screen all evening at home. And back on the internet this morning.
Every moment has been captivating. But we have seen and heard the eloquent speeches in front of large crowds. And we have been witness to the couple holding hands, hugging, dancing. And we have seen the daughters behaving beautifully in every circumstance.
So for me at least the most memorable was the playing of "Ruffles and Flourishes" -- always more emotional for me than "Hail to the Chief" that follows.
And then the indelible was GWB stepping into the helicopter that would fly him out of view and hopefully out of consciousness very soon. Of course it would have been doubly impressive if we had also had a glimpse of the diabolical Cheney getting out of Dodge.
But the very best is this morning -- Barack Obama at work in the Oval Office, as if it's no big deal. "What a country," as Yakov Smirnoff would say.
Positively,
Carolan
