What do all these tax problems say?

I don't know about anyone else, but what all these tax problems around Obama appointments say to me is one simple thing:
The U.S. tax code is insane! It has always been insane. And it has done nothing but get worse and worse over the course of my lifetime.
Can NOBODY in this great country simplify things so that we all file our taxes easily and pay our taxes equitably?
Or is it as I was told years ago about people who write union contracts -- they don't WANT anyone to be able to understand them. They want it as complicated as possible or they would be out of jobs.
Puhlease, Congress, you must reign in the tax code, close the loopholes, put a leash on the IRS.
Think MISS -- make it simple, stupid!.
