Never Mind a Publisher

A few years ago a book idea jumped into my head -- this was long after (amazingly) getting The First Book of Oregon Jazz. Rock and All Sorts of Music published but then (unhapilly) having a publisher back out of Inside Portland, a fullscale guidebook that I touted thus: "In this book I've endeavored to assemble lots of bits of information, opinion, and advice that I hope will be of value to visitors. All opinions are my own, and no business paid a red cent for a mention."

Not long after I stowed the manuscript away and assigned the files to the archives, I left Portland, became quite the traveler and relocated to Southern California.
So one day I thought Amazements of the Left Coast -- now that's a great title for a tour book. So I started forematting to self-publish -- but to actually sell copies of a self-published book requires a distributor and I found that's nearly an impossibility. Sooo I began to create a book proposal -- critical to snagging a publisher for a non-fiction book. But, again, a proposal takes about as much energy, time and know-how as writing the book itself.

And so the project languished -- midway between DIM (do it myself) and TFAP (try for a publisher). Until recently, that is, when my 2 years' experience with a personal website and this blogcast convinced me that the internet was the solution. Especially because I can now add visuals and evocative music to enhance my words.

Today the site is in its infancy but will evolve as quickly
as time allows. Click below or go to the sidebar for a look at the fledgling Amazements of the Left Coast: From Baja to Barrow and All the Way Between   http://amazements-online.com
The Left Coast, exemplified by wonderful Pacific Ocean wave sets as enjoyed from a bluff somewhere north of the city of San Diego.
Positively,
