To the Editor:
What on earth do Republicans think they are doing? Especially California Republicans. Those in the Legislature apparently believe their constituents agree with them as they have obstructed passage of a state budget.
If that is true, then shame on you! Consider the difference between increasing some forms of taxation, as set out in the current budget, and the wholesale demolition of all that has created the most amazing income generator in San Diego's or indeed California's history -- tourists! The sun alone won't do it -- it takes clean and free beaches, parks, downtowns, streets.
And without all that tourist income, you can bet before long you would be looking at truly gigantic tax increases!
So tell your legislators it is imperative that they pass this budget now.
