Ever heard charmamé ?
Today on the way home from work I discovered some ravishing music that comes with an interesting story.
It seems that virtuoso Argentine accordionist Chango Spaziuk had Ukrainian grandparents, studied anthropology and at an early age took to all sorts of music.
El Chango's intriguing compositions are based on chamamé, the music that arose many years ago in Argentina's northeastern region where mid-European immigrants found their polkas, mizurkas and waltzes mixing and mingling with the indigenous Spanish music And, incidentally, it's akin to Brazil's forro (pronounced foe-hoe)
Positively,
Carolan
