Pechanga -- who knew?

I once had a goal to visit every casino in southern California but other activities intervened, so I've been to only a few. But recently, thanks to unusual circumstances, I drove to Temecula and found my way to Pechanga together with my new Sony Cybershot. Koi pond (left) Indian sculpture (right)
And what an experience! First of all, it's easy to find -- even for this sense-of-direction deprivee. Then from the sculptures at the entrance the resort and casino pays homage to the Pechanga band of LuiseƱo Indians, who they tell us have called the Temecula Valley home for more than 10,000 years,
Finally the casino lobby borders on palatial -- waterfalls, multistoried ceilings, airy and still. And even the gaming area is elegant with wide walkways and soothing artwork plus excellent signage and a huge no-smoking gaming area. And even the slots seem subdued -- not the loud clattery monsters of old.
Positively,
Carolan
