By all means Eat Pray Love ...

I absolutely HAD to see "Eat Pray Love" on opening day -- even took off from work early and bought my ticket in advance to avoid the crowd I knew would be at La Jolla Village 12.

And, yes, I was supremely rewarded! From splashy panoramic views of New York, Italy, India and Indonesia, quick cuts from one location to the next and vivid music suited to each of them, it was lovely!

Then to the characters -- interesting, all. The story -- believable and oh-so-desirable yet beyond the reach of most of us. The writing -- excellent and obviously following much of the original book. The actors and the acting -- wonderful. Definitely Julia Roberts' most diverse and accomplished part ever.

And I had not known that my "adopted" country Brazil figured into the mix until I heard Bebel Gilberto's lilting Portuguese in the background as we met Javier Bardem's character (listen to the slinky samba below).

In this film you smile, you laugh, you cry, you dream and imagine. For 133 minutes you are transported to fully-lived lives and into the surprising realities of such different cultures -- but each of them with the ability to reach and teach any of us who can bring forth open minds and handle childlike sorrow as well as wondrous joy.

Go see Eat Pray Love and get energized!
