Do you agree?
This morning in the New York Times, Paul Krugman eloquently calls out Mitch McConnell for his ugly tactics to keep those stupid tax cuts for the top 1% of Americans.
Krugman asks, "How did we get to this point? The proximate answer lies in the tactics the Bush administration used to push through tax cuts. The deeper answer lies in the radicalization of the Republican Party, its transformation into a movement willing to put the economy and the nation at risk for the sake of partisan victory."
Frankly, I believe this is too simple an explanation. I have now pretty much come to agree with the horrific scenario outlined some time ago -- that after the uprisings of the ''60s the far right so-called "think tanks" sold the idea that if they could just squelch the middle class -- turn everyone but themselves into a group whose primary focus must be on food and shelter -- there would be no more riots for peace or any of the human rights that came out of the '60s -- choice, speech, honest voting, non-discrimination, probable cause, warrants, Miranda rights, etc.
That's what these folks want and it goes all the way to the Supreme Court! Jimmy Smits is right in his new series "The Outlaw" -- the system has been rigged!
Question is: what can we rational democratic people do about it? Please submit ideas here and to every media outlet in the area!
Hopefully,
Carolan
