Before BLACK HISTORY MONTH is out of sight and mind, consider a statement in 1995 by Roger Wilkins, civil rights leader and Assistant Attorney General in the Lyndon Johnson Administration:

Blacks have a 375-year history on this continent -- 245 involving slavery, 100 involving legalized discrimination. And only 30 involving anything else ...
