Is it possible?
A truly awful thought just occurred to me -- that the more individuals interact with and relate to facebook, twitter, chat, email, texting and all, the less able they may become to interact with and truly relate to actual people within day-to-day life.
To me it seems that this malady may most especially afflict young folks. And I fear they may even come across as arrogant, while underneath it's social insecurity that festers and plagues them.
Likely this is because they have much less face-to-face experience than that of the electronic kind. After all, we of a certain age understand the beauty albeit the messiness of real people in the real world.
Yes, they disappoint us, we are hurt by them, we get angry with them. But we have come to know that if we challenge ourselves to deal with the messiness, they/we are the only way to experience the soul-deep rewards of another human being who listens to us, understands and laughs with us, cries with us, would even die for us.
